I think that people should not listen to movie/cd critics cause its in the end all up to you if you like something if someone says to me that "You should like this movie cause they spent a lot of money on it and the actors are famous" then i say fuck you, unless i want to see the movie of course
But i saw like 1 min and like 30 sec of a movie called Aftermath: Population Zero which is made by National Geographic so its no bullshit(hah) and it tells what would "happen" if every human being just vanished and what would happen to the world PEACE OUUUUT

Yes, give me recommendations for good/terrible SCI-FI movies. I'm pretty sure I've missed a few.
about 16 hours later…
There's one I remember named Supernova. Don't remember the story, aside from it being cheesy, and able to stop me from sleeping for a week.

Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem but that is old news for a Daft Punk fan but its great
Good Ones:
We watched Se7en the other night... Always a good (disturbing) one. I absolutely love David Fincher as a director, the only reason I'm gonna see the Facebook movie.
Also, we saw another weird but humorous one called "World's Greatest Dad" (I think) with Robin Williams; the first half is meh but afterwards it gets pretty good; albeit weird.
Aaand (last one, I swear) I finally made it through The Thing (1982). I seriously had tried to watch this movie at least 4 times before finally finishing it the other night. It was amazing. Seriously, I hear they're making a prequel and I hope they don't reduce it to shit; a ton of horror these days is terrible. Come to think of it, I don't know if there's been a decent one since The Descent. That's sad, horror is one of my favorite genres.

first hour of that movie is great... afterwards: not so much. they could've shaved about a half an hour from that film.
gattica was quite cool in some way or other. At least a bit cute.
saw Snatch the other day, lock stock and two smoking barrels is way better, if I'm remembering correctly (and I really believe that I am)
Smala Sussie, watched it today, thought I had seen it before, but it seems I hadn't. Sad story, quite funny. Sweedes do deliever.
Downloading Drillbit Taylor (hopefully a bad comedy)
Wild Child, hopefully as bad as it seems.
Surrogates, 'cause it seems cool,
and have just downloaded Adventureland, I don't know how that seems, but I guess I'll see what it's like quite soon.
The movie Black Dynamite is a definite must-see for everyone, and I seriously mean that. The trailer, in it self, is piece of art. (ref on that would be: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96Y24a0cyCE )
srsly, so awesome.

I hated Adventureland, but that's just me :p and we watched Black Dynamite and laughed a lot. It was brilliant. I love Snatch for one simple reason:
ya like dags?
ya like dags?
rachael, have you seen lock stock?
same guy, loads of the same cast, sick storyline. insane.
What is adventureland about?
I just thought it has that cute actor boy in it, can't be too bad (like, last week I saw three films with ellen page in them. Haha, the new one with her is a bit funny, like, whip it. Hard Candy was, I dunno. And smart people a bit boring)

I saw it for the first time with a friend of mine a couple of weeks back. Not only did we got WTF?! early, but at the end of the movie we went like WTF@theWTF!?...
It rocks. Especially since it's only 74 minutes long and has a great re-watching value.
'o' mikkel: I have yet to see Lock Stock, I really want to. Its on my list of films everyone talks about that I haven't seen (i.e. trainspotting, the abyss)
Adventureland was very meh to me... Same part that the wannabe Michael Cera always plays, awkward nerd who wants the offbeat chick (although I did love Zombieland) and Kristen Stewart plays the exact same misunderstood rebel as she does in Twilight... Just something that seems like its been done a trillion times with nothing new to offer; I in general cannot stand indie films these days (I absolutely hated Juno. WHO TALKS LIKE THAT? And what kind of father would be THAT OK with his 16 year old being pregnant? just unrealistic.)
I loved Hard Candy, it really disturbed me haha :/ I never saw Smart People though, but I heard the same thing, and I've heard good things about Whip It.
Films I'm SUPER looking forward to next year:
IRON MAN 2 (OMFG)
Sherlock Holmes (^ Can you tell I love Robert Downey?)
Shutter Island (Martin Scorsese thriller? Sign me up!)
Tr2n (Daft Punk making a cameo, um yeah.)
The Social Network
Date Night (Tina Fey married to Michael Scott- er- I mean Steve Carrell! yes!)
and Inception (anything by Christopher Nolan is good)
sorry I'm so obnoxious and obsessive when it comes to movies. Blame it on my father.

anyone seen ninja assasin? heard it kickes ass.
Rachael, what about the film kick-ass?
violent geeks go superhero irl?
have you seen fantastic mister fox?
(is a must-see, Wes Anderson suits the format of animation perfectly. In the same league as life aquatic, if you like Anderson, that is. I believe it was even better, but it's a while since I saw life aquatic. Fantastic Mr. Fox was brilliant anyway)
have you seen avatar?
I want to see it. I mean, they're blue:)
Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant also looks promising in a teenageromgitsfantasy-way.
alice in wonderland, ofc?

and btw: juno was cute enough. nothing like what they said. everybody thought it was fantastic, i just thought it was quite nice. To me, those two are Very different things.
ooo I haven't heard of kick-ass. love geeks & superheroes (most of the time they're the same thing!) I have heard such good things about fantastic mister fox.. can you find it on a torrent? I think we're going to see Avatar this week, it's supposed to be reeeally good.
Alice in Wonderland, i'm gonna go in with very low expectations. I never liked the story as a child or teen but I love Tim Burton. Just wasn't too impressed with Corpse Bride; and in general I prefer his older work (Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands, Mars Attacks, etc) The most recent stuff hasn't done much for me besides Big Fish which I loved. Going to see Alice no doubt for the sake of seeing it though.
Also, little weird celebrity gossip: my dad was talking with a guy who did set design for Burton and asked how he was to work with and he said "He'll make a crew build something insane and difficult, come in and say that's not what he wanted and make us tear it down and start from scratch."
ouch!

Last movie I want to see in 2009: Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus.
Avatar can drop dead in the forest, or something. It's not like nobody knows the story already by watching the trailers...

fantastic mr. fox, think it's not out for good dl's just yet? not on dvd, i believe. still in theatres in america (I saw it during Oslo International Film Festival a few weeks ago)
yeah, avatar seems great.
i heard people are waiting for it because it's cameron (who i didn't know did titanic) but I've been waiting for it simply because it has blue men in it :P
and seems like a nice halfpolitical action fantasyscifi-movie with great entertainment value.
didn't know mars attacks was burton. never got to seeing more than a few scenes on tv, the others never wanted to see it. (good idea for download btw thx)
alice in wonderland is cool as a story, u ask me.
but i can get you.
and sick stuff, i believe. I will read the book, soon. make up my mind and get the real story, all that.
i believe it will be idunno.
by burton, i also like nightmare before christmas. and yes, those you mentioned minus mars attacks. and uhm, the batman film he made was quite cool, too :)
i sortof hated that newest one, uhm.... that musical. sweeny todd, yes. no good. the cool stuff had one song (all the killing) and was even quite floppy. while the boring stuff got all the screentime. and quite boring dramaturgical buildup etc.
9, that new one by Shane Acker and Burton wasn't all that, either. Nice animation, but the story didn't make it. It was too small and too big, at the same time.

when I first saw the Avatar trailer I thought it was a live version of Fern Gully. (I'm dead serious.) Did you guys have that movie? Oh it was a good one when you're a kid. Also, totes agree with 'o' mikkel on Sweeny Todd, and I LOVE musicals. Just ask Alexander, to his dismay haha. Didn't see 9 because it didn't seem to do anything for me. Ah, and how can I forget Nightmare Before Christmas?! Scared the SHIT out of me when I was a kid.
I wanna see imaginarium because it's heath ledger's last movie but that's basically all its doing for me.
enjoy mars attacks! we just watched it the other night--- so freaking hilarious.

Haven't seen it yet, so no spoilers, please. You've seen the trailers for Avatar, right? Don't tell me you can't imagine the outcome of the story?
Also, I believe Tim Burton has made too much Tim Burton. When is he ever going to make something that feels new? Alice? There's a song about Alice (best. song. ever.)

btw some info on Fern Gully:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104254/
"The film tells the story of FernGully, a rainforest near Mount Warning, Australia. A curious fairy girl named Crysta (Samantha Mathis) sees a part of the world she has never seen before beyond the rainforest and believes humans dwell only on the nearby mountain. But the wise sprite of the forest and Crysta's mother figure, Magi Lune, says humans are extinct. In the opening scene, she says that they fled, driven away by the attack of an enemy known as Hexxus (Tim Curry), the spirit of destruction and all that is toxic to nature, never to return and presumed dead; Hexxus was defeated by the fairies and imprisoned inside a tree. Crysta mentions a cloud that she saw rising near the mountain, and Magi Lune identifies it as smoke, but dismisses Crysta's speculation that the smoke might be Hexxus, saying "There isn't a force in nature that could release him, and there are no poisons here on which he can feed. Hexxus is trapped for all time." (lol)

what is it with that trend, btw?
telling the whole story of the film in the trailer?
sortof idiotic, but seems to be the new way to do it.

haha, I know. its like WOW I totally don't need to see this movie. Oh man, when Spiderman 2 was in theaters they started running this trailer on FOX that got pulled so fast--- because it showed the last dialouge of the movie. Not kidding. Luckily I saw it after I had seen the film but I was going WTF?! THAT'S THE ENTIRE ENDING! NO SPOILER ALERTS, YOU IDIOTS?! so retarded.
i-robot managed to tell just about the entire plot through the trailer, too. with the ups and downs and conflicts and ending.
lots of Will Smith movies do that.
It's the [end of the world] [near future], and the only one left that can give us any hope is one man. Starring Will Smith
Independence Day
I, Robot
I Am Legend
Hancock
etc.

I-Robot had Will Smith in it. No spoiling trailer needed.
2010 will be a good year, moviewise.
Btw anyone seen this movie? (there's a youtube-link to it in the article) It's pretty good special effects, not the usual Hollywod-hey-it's-a-green-screen-shit.

Duuuude. That YouTube video was so epic. Did you see Sam Raimi's last one? Drag Me to Hell? So good if you like "fun" horror. Reminded me of the Evil Dead trilogy (also a must see)
It's a trick, get an axe.

and rachael, btw, you said you liked musicals and that you are going away.
glee is a series with what i believe is a high school movie with a musical production as it's goal.
like, highschool musical, only something else.
it seemed promising from the five minutes I saw here the other day.

I have heard sooo much good stuff about Glee I should really start watching it. I heard it was like, the more logical more awesome version of High School Musical.
Favorite musical of all time: Little Shop of Horrors (had such a crush on Rick Moranis when I was little... so weird. I've always had a thing for the nerds.) And/or Moulin Rouge (yes I'm a stereotypical girl).

Iron Man 2 looked...well, like a sequel. It's funny how the story's gonna develop after the end in Iron Man.

Ummmm that's def the movie I'm most looking forward to. I saw it 4 times in theaters. LOVES IT. Iron Man is my favorite superhero. Then Batman.
Batman ain't a supe. Sorry, but I'm a DC-boy, and there's nothing super about him. He's just a man in a bat costume, and got a soar throat.
That's why I love them. Those two are superheroes that CHOOSE to do justice. They're not bitten by a spider or exposed to radiation they're just like: hey, we're geniuses with a ton of money, lets beat up bad guys. <3
Of course not. Still, it's like he never went to councelling afterwards. He just keeps channeling his rage on criminals. Not healthy, at all.

Saw it last Sat. Was pretty entertaining to be quite honest. One of Guy Ritchies best movies?
Anyone want to try and tell me how awesome Avatar is, and why I really need to spend about 130NOK to see it in 3D?

I really want to see Avatar. Keep hearing how amazing the effects are so def worth watching in 3D I'm assuming.
Maybe bring a book, so you can read something good while the crapolous story develops into more crap at the screen?
