Cyberspace » School?

Hey people-still-in-high-school-or-college!
What classes are you taking?
I've got:
Spanish I
AP US History
AP Chemistry
Marching Band
Then next semester:
Spanish II
Honours English 11
Algebra II
Concert Band
For those outside the US, * 11 means the 11th grade version, aka a couple of years before college/university. II or I means class one or two (duh) and AP sands for Advanced Placement (tm), which is a college course in high school, with a special exam at the end. If you pass, then you get credit for that class when you transfer.
Oh hell, United States high school seems so much more complicated (as far as picking your classes are concerned) than up here in Quebec/Canada. I'm starting my last high school year in two weeks, it's what we call "secondaire 5" which means it's the fifth year of secondary school (which is basically high school) for you francophobes out there. Anyway, I'll be taking the obligatory classes (obviously) as well as all the options I could get. Those classes are :

Obligatory (everyone gets those, no option at all as for advanced or whatever):

-French
-Phys Ed
-ECR which stands for "Éthique et Culture Religieuse" or in English "Ethics and Religious Culture", which is basically a waste of time added this year by the crappiest education reform in history
-A random history class also new and certainly crappy, thanks to our recent education reform

Options:

-Enriched English (you get to choose between that and regular)
-Mathematics SN, previously known as Maths 536 (which is the advanced maths class, modified by the reform to encourage mediocrity and let anyone in, regardless of your actual mathematical knowledge, you also get to choose between that and basic maths)
-Chemistry
-Physics
-Concert Band/Intensive Musical Formation

So at least I've a music class almost everyday, although they had to remove a couple in order to squeeze in ECR and history. You guys should consider yourself lucky, because everyone born on the same year as I was here in Quebec have been the government's guinea pigs since kindergarten, as we're always the first to test their new programs implemented by "La Réforme de l'Éducation". I dream of a real education program, thoroughly tested and actually working.
University of Oslo: Informatics (Bachelor) - language, logic and psychology.

Foss Vgs. Thirteenth year of school. having history & philosophy and economics & leadership as chosen subjects next to the obligatory ones. However, want to get rid of the economics and take two exams in english at the end of the schoolyear 09/10 instead. that would give me a load of time off. :)
about 14 hours later…
U. Washington, 2nd year: Calculus III, Physics, and something else.
mikkel: Shouldn't you be studying music or music arts or something...I mean Foss? Hah! Went to Elvebakken myself ^_^

@trex: my name is ACTUALLY closer to o mikkel, jomikkel or jo mikkel, btw. (don't like simply mikkel or jo)

yeah, i guess, though the music class seems horrible. and I'm not much of a musician. I should probably in some ways have attended drama at Nissen, or media at elvebakken, or normal stuff at Katta, or goldsmithing at elvebakken. normal stuff bores me deaf blind and dumb. I don't like it. however: in one year I'm through with all that, thank goodness.

what did you do at elvebakken?
about 20 hours later…
Allmenne fag. Should've done media @ Elvebakken, then again I was young and stupid...now I'm older.
yeah. media would have been something out of the ordinary next to the ordinary everyday nothing of generell studiespesialisering. :P
In making my move to Norway I was still taking one last class via interwebs through Skagit Valley College in good ol Washington state. It was Abnormal Psych. Once I become a Norwegian citizen *fingers crossed* or even get my visa, I hope to continue with psychology or nursing. I'd eventually like to work with addiction counseling.

However, another part of me never wants to go to school again and be in movies. One can dream, right?
No. Dreams are not allowed in Norway. (You have to take the danskebåten to Denmark for those things)

Hey, given that I've been in cégep (college in Québec) for the past 6 months or so, I might just as well post here again.

Studying Computer Science and Mathematics (Sciences informatiques et mathématiques), a 2 year pre-universitary (apparently that's not an English word) program before I can study software engineering proper in university.

This semester my classes are as follow:

Introduction to OOP and Data Structures (CS)
Integral Calculus (Maths)
Literature and Imagination (French 102)
Mechanics (Physics)
The Human Being (Philosophy)
"Somarythmes" (Some made up name for a phys ed class somewhere between yoga and having a stroke on an exercise ball)
Piano I (Optional class, music)

One year from now I shall be in an engineering school and done with French, philosophy, and other rather dull classes for good.

Hello neighbour who lives slightly further north! I forgot there were more Canadians on this forum.

As for School, I finished my three years of Media Arts at Sheridan College in April, officially "graduated" in June of last year. I spent my last term doing a "work placement", where I studied 3D Film Production at a research centre set up by the college. At least it was paid, which is more than some of my other classmates could say about their placements (thank you government grants!)

Gaaaah I'm so stressed and tired.

Homework and more homework
Emails and more emails
... and more emails
Writing and deleting and writing and then deleting
Headache because of this or a brain-freeze from taking an ice cream break? Who knows.

Also, scary nightmares about putting my dog in the oven and performing an exorcism = bad times.

FUCK.
