Cyberspace » How to say "Binaerpilot".

Ok, this is the definitive Binaerpilot-pronouncing topic, for fun. It would be embarassing if I was wrong, but I am pretty certain that it goes like this.
Take these three words:
Binder, Air, Pilot
Now take the "der" out of Binder. This should leave you with a "bine" or "byn" or whatever sound.
Finally, stick them together and say it.
Bine - air - pilot
Binaerpilot!

this is such a cool thread. and in some ways it seems utterly pointless to all of us who know how to say the word.

If I were to pronounce it properly, my friends wouldn't know what on Earth I was saying '3'

True true. I heard Alexander say it on stage once, and I was all like "WTF?! What is this shit?!". I guess I was drunk, or he was; doesn't matter. I was dancing both left and right that night. And I remember Nordland.

The german ä is thinner and sharper.
The ä in Binärpilot is a swedish one, though, which is pretty much the same sound as a norwegian æ.

Well, I'm not exactly fluent in German, and I barely know Norwegian (from knowing a bit of Swedish), but basically it's the same as the German ä, only lower in pitch, though I doubt that's the proper linguistic term. Anyway, that's how I pronounce it/ have heard it pronounced, and a bit of presuming from my Swedish pronunciation of ä.

It's Bin - air - pilot, but I say it Bin - ar - pilot... like a pirate or something?

The pirate said, "They are mine."
Using the above sentence for pronunciation similarities:
Mine - are - pirate.
Bin - är - pilot.
Binärpilot.
(Actually, I like Binärpirate a lot better now. Binärninja probably wouldn't work.)
